Sydney’s golden west continued its domination of the Western NSW Under-13 Carnival on Wednesday’s penultimate day, with Parramatta, Penrith and Blacktown all scoring massive wins to remain unbeaten heading into the Thursday’s play-offs.

However Northern District demolished ACT Gold on Wednesday to also remain unbeaten, ensuring an all-Sydney decider and also denying an entirely Western Suburbs grand final a Wade Park on Thursday.
Northern District will face Parramatta in the grand final.
Led by thumping half-tons from Sam Pickard and Finn Watkins, Parramatta piled on 5-218 before skittling Manly-Warringah for just 103 to seal a gigantic, 115-run win. Pickard was particuarly impressive, smashing 72 not out from just 47 balls at Glenroi Oval.
A four-wicket haul from Aaron Stewart was the catalyst for Penrith’s nine-wicket win over Dubbo, he snared 4-8 as the Macquarie Valley side mustered just 90.
Penrith ran it down with nine wickets in hand in the 17th over.
Said Obaidi (3-4) and Lachlan Herrenberg (3-26) did the bulk of the damage for Blacktown at Jack Brabham (2), snaring three wickets apiece as their side rolled Lachlan for 113.
They passed the total in 32.2 overs thanks to Gaurav Dogra’s 46 not out, however that was slightly too long to boost their quotient high enough to seal a decider place.
Blacktown will face Penrith in the third place play-off at KWS Main Oval on Thursday.
Mitchell Cricket Council ensured it finished the preliminary stages in style, the Black Caps thumped title contenders Illawarra to score their first victory of the carnival.
They did so thanks to, for the most part, Bathurst’s Tom Lynch.
Taking the new rock for Mitchell, Lynch put on a clinic at Riawena Oval, finishing with remarkable figures of 5-16 from six overs to help his side roll the Illawarriors for 82 inside 30 overs.
In reply, Mudgee’s Fergus Fergusson and Bathurst’s Declan Fawkner made sure the Black Caps’ chase was successful, scoring 33 and 38 not out – respectively – to see the side home with six wickets and 27 overs to spare, sealing a massive win.
After Nick Murphy’s heroics led the Orange Invitational XI to a breakthrough win over South Coast on Tuesday, the black and golds fell to Shoalhaven on Wednesday.
Shoalhaven, led by Lachlan Barr’s 47, was bowled out by Orange for 140, leaving the game in the balance.
However Orange crumbled under the pressure of scoring a second straight win. Plenty of credit needs to be given to the Shoalhaven bowling unit too, which managed to dismiss the hosts for just 48.
South Coast scored its first win of the carnival as well, scoring 8-165 from its 50 overs before rolling Wagga Wagga for 150 while ACT Blue managed a second win for the tournament.
Thursday’s play-offs start at 9am.
