England captain Eoin Morgan provided the class – and plenty of it – the Wade Park faithful so richly deserved, with two wonderful cameos from the crafty left-hander.
Morgan whacked 30 in quick time in game one – dismissed via a ripping delivery from Hong Kong seamer Kyle Christie that zipped and bounced off the Wade Park deck – before banging 42 from just 25 balls in the evening contest.
The second dig, alongside young New South Wales batsman Kurtis Patterson, put the Thunder into another strong position in the context of a result, having already earned the chocolates in the first clash in the afternoon.
It was an incredibly hard-hitting innings, one to savour for the healthy crowd at Wade, granted it’s not every day cricket fans outside a major city get to see the England captain open up at in their backyard.
His six over the Wade Park dog box in the opening game was also a shot to marvel.
