“It’s been fantastic,” skipper Ben Rohrer said of his side’s trip to the central west, landing in Orange on Saturday night before Sunday’s double header at Wade Park.
“We had a great reception (on Saturday night). A lot of people stopped us in the street, so it’s been a lot of interest in the game, which is why we bring it here.”
The Thunder will head to Albury for another trial fixture against the Melbourne Renegades, and based on what he saw at Wade Park on Sunday Rohrer was confident the weekend’s spectacular won’t be the last time the region plays host to the electric greens.
“At Spotless (Stadium, the Thunder’s home ground at Homebush), we get a lot of fans from the country areas so it’s great to be able to play in front of them.
“There’s been a huge turn out here.”
