Instead of overseeing education, opportunities and activities at the school, Mr Bliss will instead be mentoring and sharing his knowledge with principals and school leaders from primary, central and high schools across Orange, Bathurst and Lachlan areas from 2017 to 2019.
“The role is designed to support the professional learning, wellbeing and ongoing capabilities of school leaders in NSW public schools,” Mr Bliss said.
Among those who will benefit from his work will be people who are new to leadership positions as well as relieving and existing principals, deputy principals executives and others in school leadership roles.
Mr Bliss said he would be providing support with school planning, motivation and educational school self assessment and self representation as well as other methods of improving school performance.
“There will be travel, primarily I’m working in Orange and I will be working with Orange, Bathurst and Lachlan areas of schools,” he said.
Mr Bliss said at times his job could also go further afield and there will be 64 principal leaders across NSW and his position will be for two years with the intention of returning to Canobolas Rural Technology High School where he has been principal for four years.
He will be replaced by relieving principal Kate Wooten, who has been filling the role for the past term. Ms Wooten has worked at the school for 20 years filling roles as a teacher, head teacher and deputy principal.
Kinross Wolaroi School will also have a new principal next year. Principal Brian Kennelly finished at the school last week and will move to South Australia.
He will be replaced by Dr Andrew Parry who was deputy headmaster at The King’s School in Sydney.
“Over the last few weeks I have been inundated with messages wishing me well and thanking me for
all the achievements and growth of Kinross Wolaroi. While I am grateful for these kind words I must acknowledge the efforts of the staff, students and parents in ensuring we have a great school,” Mr Kennelly said in his final message to parents.
Calare Public School principal Chris Cundy has also moved on in September and his replacement Stephen Bingon started in November.
