Orange City Council sport and recreation committee chair, and deputy mayor, Jason Hamling couldn’t hide his glee on Sunday, saying he was “incredibly happy” with the turn-out at and the set-up of Wade Park and more importantly, the show the Sydney Thunder and Hong Kong put on.

At time of print, a crowd figure was unconfirmed but the roll up was expected to be in the thousands and Hamling said he, and the Thunder crew, were particularly pleased with the amount of youngsters at the ground.
“It was great to see so many kids’ faces in the crowd and the Thunder guys I spoke to said that as well, they’re very pleased with everything,” Hamling said.
“It’s great to have this kind of thing in Orange, we’re really hoping it leads to us hosting more elite level cricket, something like a women’s BBL game in particular, we’ve spoken about potentially holding a Sheffield Shield game from a long time too.
“The cricket was spectacular, the two teams played two really good games.”
