A two-year-old boy has been rescued before nearly drowning in a backyard swimming pool in Castle Hill on Saturday afternoon.

The boy, who was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital in a helicopter, was not breathing when Emergency services arrived at the scene.
The CareFlight helicopter which transported the boy landed in the Castlewood Community Reserve .
A spokesperson for CareFlight said the boy was sedated and incubated by paramedics before he was flown to hospital.
"He was in a critical but improving condition," the spokesperson said, "with vital signs returning."
Police are continuing inquiries into the incident.
