With her side chasing 146 for victory and sitting four down for not many, Litchfield knocked up an unbeaten half-ton to give the students a sniff, but they could only match the maroons’ total.
Dave Currall (51 retired), Cameron Laird (35) and Jason Gangaram (24) kicked off Cavaliers’ dig, but they were the only ones to pass double figures as Kinross fought back and held the maroons to 7-145.
Zac Pavy (4-18) took Kinross’ first four wickets before Litchfield came to the crease, where she combined well with Fraser Robertson (29), Charlie Foran (18) and George Cumming (19 not out).
Thanks to a five-wicket haul from Kyle Walker (5-9), Orange City rolled Kinross Young Guns for 29 in the other Centenary Cup game, but the students made a game of it. The Warriors lost five wickets in their successful chase.
In second grade CYMS maintained their stranglehold on the competition by taking care of Orange City by five wickets, while Cavaliers accounted for Waratahs CSU by 55 runs. Ray Milner (62 not out) led Gladstone to a comfortable eight-wicket win against Kinross as well.
In third grade, Tom Wilson (4-13) and Will Cranney (3-7) did the damage as CYMS Fahys skittled Orange City for 83 in reply to their side’s 121.
CYMS Green Bears also claimed a win, sneaking home against Waratahs.
Jeffy James (50) led the way for the sky blues as they compiled a defendable 132. Jeremy Finlayson (3-21) was the best with the ball.
CYMS were in some trouble at 3-31, but James Swanson (45 not out), Finlayson (21) and all the sundries Waratahs bowled (21) helped the green and golds over the line with 15 balls and two wickets to spare.
At time of print, the result of Wanderers’ clash against Kinross was unavailable.
