Chris Tremain, the 2008-09 Orange District Cricket Association player of the year, did his burgeoning Test claims no harm at all in Victoria’s five-wicket Sheffield Shield win over South Australia this week.

Tremain produced a workhorse performance to snare four wickets in the Redbacks’ first dig and finish with match-figures of 5-102 to move to the top of the competition’s wicket-taking list with 21 from four matches so far this summer.
He’s tied at the top with South Australia’s Chad Sayers, who was named in Australia’s squad for last week’s Adelaide Test, but takes first thanks to his superior average.
Tremain is averaging 15.95, compared to Sayers’ 21.23.
South Australia plundered 405 in its first innings – young skipper Travis Head made 130 of them while Tom Cooper compiled 97 – with Tremain taking 4-91 from a marathon 29.3 overs, to easily finish the best of the Bushrangers’ bowlers.
He then took 1-11 as the Redbacks crumbled for just 162 in their second dig.
The former Kinross quick made 20 in Victoria’s first dig of 367 as well, before the Bushrangers chased the necessary 201 down for the loss of five wickets to maintain their place atop the ladder.
