Buni, 22 of Lawson Crescent, represented himself in Orange Local Court on Monday after he registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.071.
Police said he was pulled over on Summer Street at about 10pm on September 29 after his silver Holden Colorado bunny-hopped across the Anson Street intersection.
He told police he had consumed three full-strength beers since 5pm.
In court, Buni told magistrate Terry Lucas he thought a schooner was one standard drink.
“After doing the [driver education] course, I know it’s not,” he said.
Mr Lucas also fined Buni $700 and warned him he faced a year’s disqualification if he reoffended.
