Thompson (3-42) claimed a hat-trick with the final three balls of CYMS’ innings, dismissing Jeremy Finlayson (9), Keiran Beattie (0) and Gerard Hannelly (0) to help restrict the green and golds to 8-246.
Ben Bock (129) and Luke Schuyler (85) did all the damage for CYMS, combining in a 206-run second-wicket partnership.
In reply Barrett (111) gave his side a sniff but ultimately the Warriors fell 27 runs short at 8-219.
In Saturday’s other third grade game CYMS Fahys (7-186) accounted for Kinross (183) by three wickets, on the back of Troy Eden’s knock of 76 not out.
Centrals (149) won a thriller against Kinross (9-147) in second grade, holding the students out in the last over of their chase to win by two runs.
Ed Dodds took remarkable figures of 7-22 from nine overs for Kinross, before Barney Davis (4-22) proved the main destroyer for Centrals.
Orange City (4-105) smashed Cavaliers (102) and CYMS Moroneys (7-200) thumped Gladstone (90) in the other reserve grade games.
In Centenary Cup Cavaliers (134) took care of Orange City (121) and Kinross Young Guns (8-163) made light work of the youthful CYMS (57) unit.
