Melbourne-based Mr Pekel will also conduct three days of art teaching in acrylics and oil paintings.
Art Society president Wanda Driscoll said the society was surprised when he accepted their offer to open the show.
“He travels the world teaching. He’s well sought after.”
Mrs Driscoll said: “We approached him and we stuck our neck out and he said “yes.”
“We’re glad he did. It’s a good thing that we’ve got him coming along. It’s good for all the artists from the Central West.”
He's a world famous artist who travels the world teaching.

Mrs Driscoll said they would range in price from $50 to up to $700.
The exhibition will be open daily from 10am-4pm at the art rooms in the Orange Culture Centre in Sale Street.

“There is a wide range of prices and sizes.”
She said the society had 130 members and is the largest in Orange.
Members ranged in aged from six to 96.
“Daphne Myer, is 96, she’s our oldest member. She comes in every week and paints.”
“She was always interested in photography. She started painting at the TAFE, she did a course there, in 1988-89.
“They call it art therapy. Art is good for keeping your brain active, plus there’s the social aspect to it too,” Mrs Driscoll said.
