Labor’s Bruce Dalkeith, a former Parramatta council worker, has spent the last two weeks in the city at the pre-poll station.
He came to Orange, rather than the Canterbury or Wollongong byelections, to fight forced council mergers.
“My heart’s in it,” Mr Dalkeith said.
Shooters, Fishers, Farmers Party deputy chairman Peter Johnson said he was helping a mate.
“Phil (Donato) used to be a member of the Nepean Hunters Club. He supported me during my previous endeavours with the party so it’s time to repay the favour.”
Bathurst’s Nationals Branch didn’t miss out on the fun, with a dozen volunteers manning the Orange Public School booth.
“It’s incredibly important this seat, so we can present a strong voice for the Central West,” Sam Farraway said.
