RECORDS were smashed in three major events at this year’s Wine Week celebrations securing the event’s future well into coming years organisers said.
Robertson Park was packed on Friday night with a crowd of 5000 turning out to taste local wines teamed with produce from the area.
The record-breaking crowds at the night market and the public tasting where 450 crowded into the pavilion at the showground completed the success of this year’s festival after the highest number of wine entries were received for the Wine Show
Wine Week spokesperson Charlotte Gundry said the successes auger well for the event in coming years.
“We would like to think that with the fantastic response from the public this year our sponsors will want to stay on board for next year,” she said.
“There’s no doubt the night market on Friday is the biggest we’ve had in our seven years,” said Ms Gundry.
“It was a great atmosphere and there were many visitors which means Orange is now being well recognised for this event”
“But the Wine Week committee also appreciates the great support we get from the people of Orange.”
Orange’s Wine Week committee has already locked in the dates for next year’s celebrations to be held on similar dates from October 18 to October 27.
Organisers say after a brief recovery from this year’s event, planning will begin soon on the 2013 Wine Week.
