This program is initiated by OCTEC, who advertise different sports are available to try out, every month of the year, for people with any sort of disability. 

The Orange Ex-Services Tennis Club has chosen the four consecutive Thursdays in October to support this great program and we have been more than happy to do so.

Over this past month we have hosted groups from Wangarang and Carewest and it was quite obvious that most of the participants were having a ball! 

We would like to thank Erin Lynch from OCTEC for her part in running this program, which has been fantastic for the club as well as the players.

Another great idea is the Sport and Recreation’s Baby Boomers, Move and Groove Program, where different clubs in Orange encourage the over 50s to come along to their club and try out their sport.

We have once again supported this program and we would like to extend a thank you to Darrin Yates from Sport and Recreation, for offering this program to us and members of the club and community.

There is only one day left this month, for all over 50s out there who are new players to our club to come along this Sunday and combine with our mixed social group.

Tennis commences at 1.30pm and continues all afternoon.

The big attraction for this program is free tennis for all newcomers over 50. 

On the weekend of the November 12-13, we will be co hosting the annual teams tournament.

All players who are over 18 years of age, are invited to register and play in teams of four players in both ladies and men’s doubles events to wind out the calendar year.

A wonderful facility, our courts will be used at both our own complex in Warrendine Street, as well as the indoor tennis club in Palmer Street.

On the same weekend, the State Junior Development Series (JDS) tournament, will be held at Nepean, from November 12-14.

Quite a few of our Juniors will be travelling down there to participate, so we would like to wish these players all the very best on the courts. 

Last Sunday the regular mixed social afternoon had a good attendance.

Committee person on duty, Janet Davenport, drew out the Woodward Street Quality Meats voucher and the lucky winner was Graham Hayne.

This Sunday the mixed social will hit off from 1.30pm, with committee man Brad Penrose to organise the sets for the afternoon’s tennis action. 

The ladies social also had a pleasing attendance for their regular hit, serve and volley on Thursday from 9am, so it appears that the warmer weather is bringing everyone out for a hit. 

Court hire to the public is on the up as well, most players opting for a hit after work can book a court, all you have to do is phone our clubhouse on 6362 8020 in advance.
