The talented Orange product defeated, Odin ‘Damage’ Daniels, in the fourth round after the referee stopped the bout following a cut above Daniels’ right eye in the second round.
“It’s really good to be back in the winner’s circle again especially after two tough loses in a row and I didn’t want to make it a third,” Bubb said.
Bubb, 18, lost his last two bouts in tight affairs and this fight against Daniels was tipped to be another close encounter.
Daniels held the WBC and WMC super middleweight titles in Brisbane and has a reputation for being a tough fighter.
“I started off slow in my last two fights,” Bubb said.
“The idea was to start really fast and stick to my game plan.”
Bubb’s coach, Anthony Wharton, was extremely pleased how Bubb executed the fight.
“We had a plan and we knew Odin would be a strong fighter,” Wharton said.
“I was impressed how Charlie kept his composure against a very experienced opponent.”
Wharton is continually blown away by Bubb, who aims to get the middleweight Australian title and super middleweight title after that.
“He continues to impress me and very proud of all of his achievements,” Wharton added.
“I cant keep up. He trains twice a day, six days a week and maintains a very strict diet.”
Bubb’s next challenge is the Rebellion promotion, which will be held in Sydney for the first time on November 13.
Rebellion will add to Bubb’s busy schedule, making it his 10th professional fight for the year.
Wharton is pleased with the support Bubb has received from his gym, High Impact.
“The gym supports him and follows him wherever he goes, whether it’s Melbourne or Brisbane,” Wharton said.
