That’s the highest possible score with three darts, it’s far from easy to achieve.
To put three consecutive darts into a small slot three centimetres long by one centimetre wide, some never do it in their lifetime.
But, incredibly, that’s what another three players did in the last round of the Orange men’s competition.
Tiger Lee Byrnes and Pilots pair Mark Tilston and Jay Jordan all bagging the elusive score of 180.
In the round the Victoria Assassins ambushed a severely under-strength Spitfires.
They knocked them over 9-2 with Rob Puckeridge (2x100, 140, 135, 125), Brett Savill (2x100), Jess Wiegold (2x100, 140, 123), Rod Millar (3x100, 2x140, 116 peg out) and Matt Caughlan (103, 104) all stepping up to the job.
The Spitfires’ top scores were hit by Will Owers (2x121, 140, 100), Graeme Kelly (127) and Mark Wiegold (5x120).
The Metro Pilots, using a board in a highly-trafficable pedestrian area that rattled the Great Western Tigers, won 8-3.
Mark Tilston (180, 100), Jay Jordan (180, 3x100, 121, 117), Mark McKenzie (4x100, 121), Darrell Warren (2x100) and Adam Dean (2x100, 135, 125) got the top scores.
Doing well to dodge wandering pub patrons the Tigers’ Lee Byrnes (180, 100), Ken Kostitch (7x100, 140, 121), Barry Wicks (100), Mitch Kennewell (4x100, 140) and Andy Whitmore (2x100) played well.
In division two the Ophir Nuggets had a 9-2 win over the Victoria Outcasts.
The Nuggets’ top scorers were Terry McInnes (100), Rod Madden (100) and Rob Herbert (136) while the Outcasts’ best were Erich von Einem (121), Peter Hamilton (105) and Chris Blackall (120).
The Metro Old Boys had a 6-5 win over the Carrington Devils.
The Old Boys’ best scorers were Troy Mavrak (140, 135) and Jeff Grindrod (2x100) leading the way while Max Dennis hit 121 for the Devils.
In important information, there’ll be a meeting on Tuesday, October 25 at the Victoria at 7pm and all teams must be represented.
