The first grade limited overs cup – which used to be played in the 50-over format – starts up this Saturday at Jack Brabham Oval, but in 2016-17 it’ll be played under the rules of the shortest form of the game.
With the regular first grade competition in a general bye due to representative cricket, teams will this weekend play Twenty20 cricket instead, as well as the regular Royal Hotel Cup on Friday nights.
The new T20 competition will have it’s own competition points and finals, although the fourth round of the premiership will also double as Royal Hotel Cup games under lights at Wade Park – a curious crossover of the two competitions.
In Saturday’s opening round, Centrals will take on CYMS and Orange City plays Kinross, with both matches played at Jack Brabham Oval. Cavaliers have the bye. The second round will be January 21 and the third round February 11.
