Awards are presented to members of each intra-club to acknowledge their achievements and hard work they contribute to their club during the past year.
Our tennis club’s nominee, Chrissie Kjoller, was declared the winner of the prestigious clubperson of the year award by the board of directors and sports committee of the OESC.
Other nominees were Nichole Puxty (soccer), Mandy Dening (polars bears), Steph McManus (hockey), Brian Marsh (glee club), Robyn Newey (golf), Betty Stewart (card club) and Kevin Giumelli (men’s bowls).
Betty Stewart from the card club, gratefully excepted the exceptional award for her 30 year dedication to her club.
Tennis club’s nominee Eleanor Crane’s long list of achievements won her the title of senior sports person of the year.
Other nominees in this category were, Leanne Kennewell (hockey), Aitaua Holmes (ladies golf) and Lee Stinson (men’s bowls).
The junior sportsperson of the year award went to the soccer club’s Zac Pavy.
Other nominees were Julia Grant (hockey), Jarryd Seib (tennis) and Jack Morrison (polar bears).
Our uni-sex competition is going exceptionally well. The second night was contested on Wednesday with the new team names being decided.
Newks (Rod Buesnel, Megan Neville, Aleks Radojicic) won three sets-22 games, 6-4,6-5,6-1,4-6.
Hopmans (Col Parsons, Jane Gordon, Sam Radojicic) won 2 sets-20 games, 6-1,4-6,4-6,6-1.
Woodies (Robyn Dunlop, Peter Atkins, Andy Cannon) 2 sets-14games, 1-6,6-4,6-4,1-6.
Rafters (Chrissie Kjoller, Janet Davenport, Ningshong Cai) 1 set-16 games, 4-6,5-6,1-6,6-4.
Kinross Wolaroi School resumed for the term at our complex this week. It is always great to have them back after their winters break. The majority of Courts were in use which is pleasing to see.
The ladies social group on Thursday along with the mixed social each Sunday have been going well with good support from players.
Last Sunday’s meat voucher which is supplied by Woodward Street Quality Meats was won by Graham Hayne.
Committee person Brad Penrose is on duty this Sunday at 1.30pm to organise the sets for the afternoon’s play.
We are working with sport and recreations’ Baby Boomers Move and Groove Program, which encourages all new players who are over 50 years of age to join in with our ladies social on Thursday and/or our mixed social on Sunday, free of charge.

The disability groups which have been utilising our complex every Thursday have been enjoying their tennis over the past weeks, with some showing improved co ordination.
This program is put on by OCTEC, which we proudly support.
