Sam Sutton and Emma Carrall were part of an 11-strong group who journeyed to Wujiang as part of their Certificate IV and Diploma of Community Services courses.
The students spent one week at the Suzhou Wujiang Social Welfare Institute caring for orphans, including those with special needs, and a day at the Shanghai Baby Home Health Care facility.
“Visiting the orphanage was a life-changing experience,” Ms Carrall said.
“It has made me and I’m sure others in our group start to appreciate the little things in life that we took for granted.
“I have learnt so much from my time in China both on an academic and personal level.”
Mr Sutton echoed those sentiments, saying “I fell in love with the atmosphere and positivity of the orphanage”.
The excursion was part of TAFE’s Outbound Mobility Program.
