The Orange two-handed star, who also will be trying for his 13th career title, finished the 36-game Detroit Open qualifying phase by averaging a combined 229.9 for 12 games each on the PBA’s Wolf, Bear and Badger lane conditions at Thunderbowl Lanes in suburban Detroit.
In his two previous Fall Swing television appearances, the Australian gun finished third in the Wolf Open and fourth in the Badger Open.
Just one match away from facing Belmonte in the title match will be No. 2 qualifier and Badger Open winner Sean Rash, who will be trying for his second consecutive Fall Swing win and the 11th of his career.
The Fall Swing will wrap up with the King of the Swing, with a potential win in the Detroit Open set to book Belmonte a berth.
