Orange girls improve on 2011 results

ORANGE proved to be competitive in the Hockey NSW under 15 girls’ indoor hockey championships last weekend.

This is the second year Orange has entered a team and they improved on their 2011 result in the division two competition by two places.

The Orange girls finished seventh after some great battles.

In the pool matches, Orange started with a strong 5-2 win over Macarthur (2).

Things were tougher in their second match where Central Coast scored some early goals to take a quick lead.

However, the Orange girls didn’t let this shake them and they continued to push their opponents.

Central Coast were too strong in the end and won 10-1.

On the second day of the event, Orange were edged out by Grafton (1) 4-3.

In the final pool match, Orange took on a physical Sydney (2).

The Orange girls stayed strong and pushed their metropolitan rivals but Sydney (2) took a 4-1 win.

Orange missed out on third place in the pool on goal averages.

Instead they finished fourth and played off for seventh place against Illawarra (2).

The Orange side had a fantastic finish to the tournament with a 4-1 win over Illawarra (2) to claim seventh place.

To cap off a great tournament, Orange’s Chloe Barrett was given the developmental player of the tournament award.
