After a 10-year break the Orange Royal Raiders baseball senior team has been re-formed to compete against a team from Bathurst and three from Wallerawang on Sundays from October 16.
They have dusted off the old uniforms that were stored under a house, contacted old players and had plenty of new ones join them through Facebook to get the show back on the road.
Club president Luke Whitton said that after the club folded through a lack of administrators 10 years ago he had been constantly asked to start it up again and had finally succumbed.
“We have around 20 players. Some can only play every second week but we’ll have a team,” he said.
“None of us have thrown a ball for 10 years so there could be some sore arms and sore legs.”
Secretary Terry Bruton said there were five women in the team and players’ ages ranged from 15-36.
He said training should start next week, they would be based at the Bloomfield Country Club Oval and they would alaos have an under 17 team next season.
“There’s a resurgence because baseball will be in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” Bruton said.
