Yet when Garth Tander claimed the chequered flag at the Sandown 500 earlier this month, it renewed hope in the HRT camp.
Next week the team will be at Mount Panorama chasing the eighth Great Race win in its history. HRT boss Ryan Walkinshaw is hopeful of a strong performance.
“You’re always hopeful – we’re not going to come out with anything too soon, but if there’s any time you want to get back in form, it’s in the enduros,” Walkinshaw told supercars.com.

Tander, who will drive with Warren Luff at Bathurst, is the best placed driver for HRT as he sits 10th in the championship. He trails leader Shane van Gisbergen by 585 points with four rounds remaining.
