Man fined for telling police he was his brother

A 44-year-old man was fined $900 in Orange Local Court on Monday for three offences after he was pulled over by police in Autumn Street on January 16.

Hill Street resident David Scott Ostini was unrepresented in court where he pleaded guilty and was fined $300 for each of the three charges including giving a false name and address.

Magistrate Terry Lucas also disqualified him from driving for six months for driving while his licence was suspended and he disqualified him for six months for drug driving with methamphetamine and cannabis in his system.

Ostini told police he gave his brother’s name and address because he was nervous.
