Mayfield Vineyard has been ranked among the best wedding venues in NSW. The website AllGigs.com.au has ranked the 23 best venues in the state. Mayfield Vineyard is the only winery to make the list. Cellar door and functions manager Jess Sandford said bookings were already rolling in for 2019. “If you’re not wanting a city wedding, people look to vineyards, which can be a romantic or a destination wedding,” she said. “Orange is not a long way from Sydney or Canberra and families can explore what the region has to offer.”

For the past nine years, Chantel Ell has had a dream of owning her own tattoo shop. It became a reality on Saturday when The Tattoo Shoppe opened in Peisley Street. Miss Ell first became a tattooist 10 years ago and fell in love with the art and has returned to Orange. “I want to offer something for everyone, something that’s a bit unique for both men and women,” she said. The shop also has beautician Jessy Davis on hand to help with everything from spray tans to make-up. Piercing and cosmetic tattoos will be available and Miss Ell hopes to expand the shop in future.
Here for hearts
Orange’s schools will benefit from Westfund Health Insurance’s and Defibshop’s newest program, Here for Hearts. The program focuses on preventative health and will subsidise automatic external defibrillators (AEDs). “Westfund is proud to be involved in its local communities and to assist to local schools to gain access to these lifesaving devices,” said Westfund regional manager, Nicole Hilliard. “AEDs are a vital device. If defibrillation is delivered within minutes of a cardiac arrest, survival rates can be increased by us much as 80 percent,” said Defibshop’s Carpet Hughes.
EMPOWERED GOLF
People with a disability could soon be able to play golf. Empower Golf Australia is planning to open a hub in Orange. The not-for-profit held a clinic in the city on Friday giving people with a disability the chance to play. “It’s for anyone who wants to access the game of golf but has had trouble in the past. Anybody of any ability can play and be competitive,” NSW head coach Lachy Foulsham said. He said the program was about breaking down barriers whether it be getting to the green or teeing off.
