Two peas in a pod, just like the world famous Spanish wine this CYMS bookend keeps getting better with age.
And at 36 years young in 2016, Knight has reinvigorated his game, helping the club’s first division side to the grand final after winning the competition’s player of the year award.
I must still be doing something right.
- Des Knight
It’s the first time Knight has claimed such a gong, having gone close during his years in premier league with CYMS for over a decade.
“I must still be doing something right,” he laughed, adding the team was more than capable of winning its third title in a row on Sunday.
“I think so, we’ve definitely got the side to do it.
“It’s more about head space and attitude this time of year. I’ve been lucky enough to be there a few times now. With a few young guys in the side, they look to me for a bit of confidence and an attitude check when they need it.
“We turned it around last week to get in, and we’re ticking all the boxes to get the job done.”
Knight says he’s enjoying being an “old head in a young side".
“Half the reason I’m still playing is because I know you’re a long time retired,” the experienced gun said.
