POLICE say they are staggered by the number of drug seizures during last week’s five-day operation at the Psyfari Festival between Lithgow and Mudgee.

Police from the Western Region, the Dog Unit, Operations and Support Group and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command took part in the operation.
As a result of the drug dog operation, 78 prohibited drugs were found, including ice, magic mushrooms, cannabis, MDMA and cocaine.
Police conducted more than 2500 random breath tests and 250 random drug tests, issuing 11 traffic charges, 50 penalty notices and 28 speeding tickets.
Mudgee Local Area Commander, Superintendent Anthony Joice said there were no fatalities or serious incidents reported to police.
“The vast majority of festival goers told police how much they appreciated the police efforts in making the festival safer,” he said.
