The 40th anniversary running of the time-honoured colour city sporting event will be staged in November, with nominations for the 2016 games to crown the king and queen of sport in Orange expected to flood in come September 10.
Such is the magnitude of the expected nominations, Lyne has revealed the organisers of this year’s event have come up with a veterans class to go along with the annual men and women divisions.
The veterans competition will incorporate over-45s, all of whom will be still eligible to take out the overall, King and Queen of Sport crowns.
Lyne said this year’s competition was shaping up as one of the biggest he’s been part of.
The key to making it run like a well oiled machine? Volunteers.
“It’s such a big job, and everyone that’s helping out has been great,” Lyne said.
“We’re looking at bringing back some of the old events that everyone really enjoyed. We’re close to finalising go karts, the guys out there have been great to work with.”
Nominations for the 2016 games open on September 10, with the eight days of competition beginning on November 12.
