The Tigers booked passage through to the grand final day at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Sporting Complex with wins in the under-16, under-13 and under-12 title races, the former two age groups set to meet cross-town rivals Orange CYMS in each.
CYMS has four sides set to run out at Glen Willow this Saturday, a day that marks the first time Mudgee has played host to a Group 10 Junior Rugby League grand final day.
Bloomfield president Jason Greenhalgh was rapt with the performances of all of his sides during the preliminary finals at Wade Park, but to have three of the four teams – the Tigers’ under-10 side lost to Mudgee Red – make a grand final was a great achievement.
To have two of those sides preparing to contest all-Orange grand finals was icing on the cake.
“It certainly is a good thing for rugby league in Orange,” Greenhalgh said.
“It shows the strength of the game here and I think between the two clubs, Orange was represented in the finals of every age group this year.
“It bodes well for the future. Hopefully they all continue to enjoy the game and remain part of rugby league in the years to come.”
In last Saturday’s penultimate games at Wade Park, Mudgee Red progressed through to the under-10 decider after winning 34-0.
Lithgow Storm edged Bathurst Panthers 28-24 in the under-11s, Bloomfield was dominant in a 30-0 victory in the under-12s while the Tigers’ under-13s held on to edge Eglinton 24-18.
Bathurst St Pat’s won 10-6 over Mudgee in the under-14s, while Bathurst Panthers stormed home to win 30-28 against St Pat’s in the under-15s.
“It bodes well for the future. Hopefully they all continue to enjoy the game and remain part of rugby league in the years to come.

And in the under-16s, Bloomfield secured a 24-12 win over St Pat’s to ensure the main game in Mudgee this weekend would be an all-Orange blockbuster.
“That’s going to be a great game,” Greenhalgh added.
“Both teams have got plenty of great players and I’d say that’ll be the number one game of the day. The 13s will be a really tough game too.”
Greenhalgh was tipping the Tigers’ under-12 team, minor premiers, to bounce back after a suprising major sem-final loss to Bathurst Panthers a fortnight ago.
“I think they’re determined to prove themselves. They were undefeated until that game against Panthers, so I suppose they’re looking for a bit of revenge there,” he said.
