Judy and Ken Kramer had two large emu sculptures on display at their business, Anything Grows.
However, despite being located on the highway and with fences surrounding the nursery they were astounded when they discovered one of the sculptures was missing.
Mrs Kramer said police have been informed of the theft and she wanted to put the word out about the stolen sculpture in case anyone in the community could help identify its location or the possible offenders.
She said the sculpture was valued at $500 and had been on display for about three months.
“It was here a few days ago but it wasn’t here this morning,” Mrs Kramer said on Thursday.
“It’s quite unique, a man from Trundle makes them.
“It’s more the fact that they stole it, it’s ridiculous.”
Although she was not certain what night it was taken she suspected it have been taken out through a barbed wire fence.
“There were three rounds of barbed wire and they’ve wrapped two together so they could reach through and get it,” Mrs Kramer said.
Even if it was stolen at midnight she considered the theft to be brazen due to the location of the business.
Although the stolen emu sculpture was not as big as the one still at the nursery, Mrs Kramer said the missing chick was about half a metre high.
“I’m very dismayed, the guy at Trundle who makes them for me, he likes to sell them and it’s very depressing,” Mrs Kramer said.
Mrs Kramer said anyone with information who may have seen people acting suspiciously near their business or who has seen anyone seen in possession of an emu sculpture similar to the one still at the nursery should contact Orange Police on 6363 6399.
