David Clare was the first of almost 30 waiting fans through the doors of Collins Booksellers at 9am when ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ became available for purchase, the launch date coinciding with the birthdays of both the title character and series author JK Rowling.
“I saw the first three movies before I read the books so I sort of missed those celebrations,” Mr Clare said.
“I’m jumping on the bandwagon now.”
Collins owner Margaret Schwebel was delighted with the turnout.
“There’s some diehard Harry Potter fans in Orange and I know they’re thrilled to see the series continue,” she said.
“For me it’s a real buzz to see people excited about reading.”
There was only one caveat to Mr Clare’s plans to read the book from cover to cover on Sunday.
“Mum might have some things for me to do,” he lamented.
