The Warriors welcomed their new committee after last Friday’s annual general meeting.
2015-16 president Ian Findlay and vice-president Darrell Hair vacated their posts, with Nick Cooper and Jackson Coote slotting in.
Dave Boundy maintained his role as secretary, Greg Seib took Cooper’s role as treasurer with Deb Smith to be the latter’s deputy.
Jon Harris remains the club’s junior delegate, while Craig Rogan, Jeremy Bartier and Ed Morrish become the club’s general committee members. Steve Sharp and Jamie Stedman were elected club managers, while Rogan takes over from Coote as club captain.
“We need to thank Ian for his service over the last half decade, and Darrell more recently too,” returning assistant secretary Matt Findlay said.
“They’ve both been passionate members of the club and committee for a long time, it’s sad to see them finish as administrators but the club’s very appreciative of what they’ve done over the years.
“We’re all excited to get a bit of fresh meat in, especially considering we’ll get the ball rolling for our 50th anniversary celebrations virtually from now.”
Although this coming summer, 2016-17, is the club’s 50th season – the Warriors’ first was 1967-68 – Orange City will celebrate the milestone in the lead up to the 2017-18 season.
“This is our 50th season, but our actual establishment anniversary is August 17, 2017. So we’ll be celebrating both next year,” Findlay said.
“We’re a very proud club with a long history of success, so we’re all looking forward to seeing players old and new come together again to celebrate such a big milestone.
“We’ve got plenty of plans already set in stone and we’re still bouncing others around as a group.”
Findlay explained one of the biggest factors of the night will be the launch and release of a book detailing the club’s history, written by founding member and ODCA, Mitchell Cricket Council, Western Zone and Country Cricket NSW legend Carl Sharpe.
“It was Sharpie’s pet project, before he sadly passed away in March,” Findlay said.
“He did something similar for the ODCA’s centenary celebrations a few seasons ago, it was a remarkable piece of work for one man to have completed and this one is no different.”
Orange City is expected to field sides in all four ODCA grades this coming summer as per usual.
“That’s certainly the plan, we didn’t have much success in terms of silverware on the field last year so we’ll be looking to change that. And retain the McCarthy Cup (club championship) of course,” Findlay said.
“One big focus for this year is also the formation of an Old Boys’ Club, Dave Boundy’s in charge of that.”
