The black and golds booted 11 majors in their 24-point win in Young, their second win on the trot after knocking off the Dubbo Demons a week ago.
Pearce’s men now sit just one win from fourth spot and play the Giants on Saturday at Country Club Oval, a very win-able game considering the Bathurst club has just one win this season.
Pearce, though, wasn’t letting himself or his charges get too carried away with any sort of potential run at the an unlikely top four finish.
“For us, we can’t get any further ahead of ourselves than a week. It’s one week a time,” Pearce said after the Tigers’ 11-5-71 to 6-11-47 win over the Saints.
The Tigers have a tough run of games after the Giants clash.
They take on Parkes (fourth), Cowra (second) and then the Bushranger Rebels (third) to round out the final three weeks of the regular season.
“We virtually have to win very game,” Pearce said.
“If we can get some consistency in our group, then I think we’re capable of that … we’re capable of matching it with every team in the competition but getting all of our best players on the field at the one time has been tough.
“Our captains, Tim Barry and Michael Rothnie, I’m hopeful of having those guys back in the next couple of weeks.”
On Saturday at Burrengong Oval, the black and golds trailed at quarter time before clinging to a three point lead at the major break.
In tough, muddy conditions, the Tigers little me starred, mainly in the final term, where the visitors kicked on to win by 24 points thanks to four final-quarter goals.
Pearce lauded the on-ball work of Simon Kay and Kirk Phillips, while Luke Thorley was the coach’s best on ground.
“The conditions really suited those guys best,” Pearce said.
