Drug educator Paul Dillon believes these deaths are preventable if students know how to respond and get help.
Mr Dillon presented three different seminars to year 9, 10 and 11 students at Kinross Wolaroi School on Monday.
Topics included risk taking, alcohol and cannabis and issues surrounding alcohol and drugs.
Mr Dillon said his seminars were based on practical strategies.
“I don’t deliver a don’t do drugs talk. My message is about looking after yourself and your friends,” Mr Dillon said.
“This is a time in their lives where students are going to be exposed to alcohol and drugs.”
Year 11 student Bella Anderson said Mr Dillon’s sessions were highly informative.
“The seminar went into depth about what not to do and the consequences if you do them” Miss Anderson said.
