Canowindra's inspiring gardens

HEAD down to Canowindra this Saturday to discover hidden gems amid six of the village’s gardens.

Each garden has its own unique charm and distinctive style - and each has its own fascinating story.

Find out how their owners have transformed their gardens to suit their lifestyles and personal visions.

Enjoy a taste of Provence in a courtyard garden, and then wander up to a modern native garden that cleverly links a striking contemporary house with an adjoining heritage building.

Next door, flanking the old bank building, a terrace garden uses paving and convict-made bricks to frame the plantings.

The fourth garden features a 100-year-old wisteria leading to a small orchard and herb garden, and further up the street is a lovely gravel garden framed by pretty perennial borders.

Finally, be inspired by the creativity of the last garden with its draped roses, succulents in picture frames, and inspired plant combinations.

Entry price includes a range of extras in each garden, including expert advice from a landscape designer, art exhibitions and plant sales.

Finish the day at the night market showcasing delicious local food and wine which commences at 4.30pm in the Memorial Park.

Tickets are $20 per person for entry to all six gardens and there is no charge for children under 18.

Gardens will be open between 11am and 5pm this Saturday and bookings are not required.

Tickets will be available on the day from outside Finns Store, 35 Gaskill Street, Canowindra
