Rosnay Organic Wines’ ‘Garage No.1’ Cowra Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – the first wine made personally by Mr Statham – took out the top prize, which is awarded in partnership by Winestate Magazine and the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA).
Rosnay Organic Wines is the first organic and biodynamic vineyard in the Cowra region and was planted by the Statham family as part a certified organic rural farming subdivision, now known as Rivers Road Organic Farms.
“Rosnay - the farm and the idea - encompasses all of my passions: family, eco-living, community, self-reliance, cooperation and natural farming systems,” Mr Statham said after winning the award.
“My first knowledge of wine I gained in France. I went to university in southern France and I studied Geography. My field assignment was to visit a vineyard.”
