Racing Orange will host two matinee meetings next year, with the club’s February 25 and March 25 meetings – both Saturdays – scheduled to begin at around 11am.
The earlier start will result, obviously, in an earlier finish to the program, one Racing Orange executive officer Gavin Pilossof believes will be an interesting change to the racing scene at Towac Park.
“The idea is obviously tailored to families being at the races,” Pilossof said.
Pilossof said the Towac Park track recorded over 300mm of rain during June, which normally would close the track from any type of work for its trainers.
“But we haven’t missed a day,” Pilossof enthused.
“And I think the results speak for themselves.”
Of the club’s nine meetings, just two aren’t TAB – the November 1, Melbourne Cup day meeting and the January 14, picnic race day.
