While snow is unlikely for Saturday, Sunday and Monday, there is a promising prediction for Tuesday.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Mohammed Nabi said snowfall was likely, however it was predicted to be in smaller quantities than the previous week. 

“On Tuesday, we’re expecting snow levels to lower down to about 1000 metres,” Mr Nabi said.

“This will clear up on Wednesday with a maximum temperature of seven degrees and westerly winds.”

With the upcoming rain and snow, Canobolas Local Area Command inspector Adam Beard advised motorists to exercise caution, slow down and drive to the conditions.

“Sometimes that may be driving at a speed well under the posted speed limit due to prevailing conditions such as ice and snow,” Inspector Beard said.

“We advise motorists to heed the advice of the Roads and Maritime Services and local councils for road conditions and road closures.”

Inspector Beard said this advice tied into a general police campaign for road safety.

“At all times, it is important not to speed, wear your seat belt and not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” he said.

“I think motorists are generally conscious about driving to the conditions,”

“However some motorists need to heed the warnings, exercise caution and drive safely.”

There was 7.3mm of rain at Orange Airport on Friday morning and westerly winds between 30km to 35km an hour with a southwesterly between 20km to 30km in the middle of the day.

For early risers on Saturday there will be patchy light frost in the morning and south-westerly winds between 15km to 20km an hour becoming light in the late evening.

The forecast for Sunday is partly cloudy with southerly winds between 15km to 20km per hour, becoming light during the morning.

Bring out your beanies and scarves for a partly cloudy Monday with morning frost, light winds and a five per cent chance of rain.

Keep your umbrellas at the ready for Tuesday with a 90 per cent chance of rain, a snow forecast and light winds becoming westerly between 15km to 20km an hour.

According to weatherzone.com Orange experienced record rainfall in June with 234.6mm of rain.

This was a big increase from the previous record from June 1998 of 178.6mm.

This sent Orange’s dams into overflow with Suma Park reaching 57.5 per cent capacity while nearby Spring Creek was at 100 per cent.

The combined water storage for the city was 65.9 per cent.
