MILLTHORPIANS will have noticed that we have

MILLTHORPIANS will have noticed that we have a brand spanking new set of tennis courts at Redmond Oval.

They're to be christened on Sunday, October 28, with a family tennis day starting at 11am.

Whether you're a seasoned player or a novice, or just want to enjoy the occasion, you're welcome join in the launch of this major sporting acquisition for the village.

An important part of the day's activities will be to set up a tennis club to manage the on-going organisation of the courts.

A Millthorpe Tennis Club is required by Blayney Shire Council, the owner of Redmond Oval, to deal with maintenance, insurance and such mundane matters as issuing keys to those that want to hire the courts for a game or two.

The village committee is also more than half way towards raising the $25,000 needed to provide lighting for the courts.

The lights will greatly improve their amenity by allowing games to be played at night.

Close to $20,000 has been obtained and the search is continuing for further donations to bridge the gap.

Secret women's lunch

The secret women's business dinner, held on the third Thursday evening each month, has become an institution in the village.

To give more flexibility, and the opportunity for even more enjoyable chinwagging, the group will now also enjoy a lunch on the first Thursday of each month at The Old Mill, beginning at 1pm.

As always, all women in the district are welcome to come along to these friendly, completely informal meals.

All you need to do is let the cafe know by calling 6366 3188.

Table full

Millthorpe's first winemakers' table is fully booked as part of Orange Wine Week.

On Monday evening next week 150 people will sit down at three long tables set along Pym Street to enjoy a memorable three-course meal prepared by the chefs at Tonic and The Old Mill.

The iconic verandas will be floodlit and entertainment will make the meal a memorable one for all.

With such a positive response to our first winemakers' table we hope that it will become a regular event on the calender as part of Orange's annual wine week in October.
