Bubb tore Sydney’s Scott Wilson apart to claim his first professional title by way of a second round TKO while Gibbs-O’Neill won his amateur title via a points decision, beating Gi Low.
“I started off a little slow, I played his game more than I would have liked so I picked it up at the start of the second,” Bubb said.
“I put more shots together and was able to land a few body shots, as soon as he was showing it I knew he didn’t want to be there anymore.
“I wasn’t really thinking knockout I was just seeing what he had to offer and when the opportunity came I took my chance.
“Sandon fought unbelievably, he put everything together for the five rounds and owned the fight.”
High Impact’s Scott Allan also fought, but went down to Sebastian Hui.
“We’re always proud of Scott, to get in there and fight a weight division above his and not back down,” Bubb said.
“But as I said before the fight, he’ll punch on with anyone.”
Bubb said his fight will be one “that’s hard to forget” and not just because it’s his first professional belt.
“It’s awesome to win my first pro belt but it’s also awesome to have done it front of the the 40 or 50 Orange locals who traveled down,” he said.
The 18-year-old phenom goes straight back into training on Monday in preparation for his next fight, in Melbourne in three weeks.
“Straight back into it, getting ready for the next step,” Bubb said.
“There was no major injuries out of [Saturday’s fight], just a little cut under my eye but that isn’t anything to worry about.”
