A CELEBRATORY drive around the district proved much more action-packed than Stephen Gibbs had planned after he inadvertently ran into a vandalised gate on Mount Canobolas and ended up with a smashed windscreen.
Mr Gibbs, who was visiting the area from Gosford, said the partially closed gate was in his “blind spot” and he didn’t see it until it was too late and it had hit his car.
“I consider myself lucky, absolutely,” he said.
“It could have been worse, because there were so many cars there it encouraged me to go much slower than I may have.”
Mr Gibbs said despite the mishap he’d enjoyed the view.
“The snow is quite lovely.”
Police are warning drivers to stay off Mount Canobolas until the gates are officially re-opened.
