THERE was little to like in Orange Ex-Services’ 7-1 loss to competition leaders Lithgow Panthers last weekend, player-coach Leanne Kennewell admitted as much, so how do the blue and golds go about bouncing back from the defeat?

Simple, like Donnie Brasco said, “forget about it”.
Ex-Services’ underwhelming performance last weekend was a complete anomaly based on the rest of their 2016 women’s Premier League Hockey campaign, so Kennewell said they’ll treat it as such, move on and focus on re-finding their mojo against Parkes United on Saturday.
“Last week a combination of things went wrong, that we’d rather forget,” she said.
“It’s very important for us to bounce back after that game [and get back to how we were playing before].
“We’re basically at full strength this weekend, except for our goalkeeper Erin Horan ... Parkes are always stronger at home.”
Ex-Services and Parkes are yet to meet this season, but sit fourth and fifth respectively. The two sides are locked up on 16 competition points apiece, but the Orange side takes the higher spot thanks to a superior goal difference.
That could all change this weekend though, dramatically.
If Ex-Services win and win big enough, they could shoot back up to second if other results fall their way.
But, if they lose by a big margin, they could drop as low as sixth.
Kennewell’s not thinking about any of that though.
“I don’t even know where we’re sitting on the ladder at the moment to be honest,” she said.
“We’ll assess the situation after this weekend, after the first full round of games, once everyone’s had a bye and played each other.”
Ex-Services tackle Parkes from 1.30pm, at Parkes.
