The matters against Mark Anthony Drady, 46, of Kokoda Street Orange, were heard in Bathurst Local Court before magistrate Michael Allen.
Police facts tendered to the court told how at 3.43pm on September 25, 2015 at Hartley, police stopped Drady while he was driving along the Great Western Highway.
He was stopped for the purpose of a random breath and drug test by police who were patrolling the area.
Drady was asked to produce a driver’s licence which he did not do; he told officers his licence was suspended due to fines.
A check through the Roads and Maritimes Services and COPS revealed Drady’s driver’s licence had expired on January 15, 1998 and he was an unlicensed driver.
His roadside breath test was negative, but an oral fluid test produced a positive response to cannabis and methamphetamines.
Drady was arrested for a secondary oral fluid test and taken to Lithgow police station where he provided an oral fluid sample for analysis. After forensic testing by the NSW Forensic and Analytical Service at Lidcombe, the sample returned a positive result to cannabis and meth.
In relation to the taking of drugs Drady told police: “I had two puffs of a smoke about two hours ago at a mate’s place.”
On the charge of driving a vehicle with an illicit drug present in blood Drady was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for six months.
For driving unlicensed he was fined $250 with 28 days to pay.
