I WAS more than disappointed to read that Mr Pearson said he believed Orange Regional Council is the only logical name should the amalgamation, between Blayney, Cabonne and Orange proceed.

I do not agree with him that a geographical name is not indicative of the area, and I strongly believe Canobolas (visible from many parts of the area) would be much more acceptable (do the people of Yeoval think of themselves as Orange?) and also help to smooth the transition a little.
I believe Canobolas is more widely recognisable than Mr Pearson thinks. An extinct volcano, it is the highest point between the Pacific and Indian oceans on that latitude.
Having already been through one amalgamation (Molong, Boree, Amaroo, Canobolas) I know what a severe effect this has on small communities.
