Isaiah Fredrick Mundy, 18, and Nicholas Mundy, 30, have been committed to Orange District Court for sentence on August 1, while a 16-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced in Orange Children’s Court on June 20 for robbery with an offensive weapon in company.
According to agreed police facts, the three met up at about midday on January 24 and were walking around central Orange when the juvenile suggested they commit a robbery at Kelly’s.
The facts stated the minor suggested he would enter the bottle shop first and frighten staff with a knife, at which point the other two would enter and “get what yous want”.
The minor and Nicholas Mundy entered first at about 1pm, and when the Kelly’s staff member asked if they wanted assistance, the minor asked where the tequila was.
When the staff member returned to the counter, the facts said the minor produced the knife, raised it above his head, pointed downwards, and demanded cash, and the staff member fled the scene.
The minor and Nicholas Mundy took four packets of cigarettes before fleeing the scene, and Isaiah Mundy also fled after unsuccessfully trying to open the cash register.
The minor was arrested at a nearby hotel for unrelated matters just before 4am the next morning, followed by Nicholas Mundy at 12.20pm when police stopped a black Hyundai i30, and Isaiah Mundy turned himself in two hours later.
Isaiah Mundy and the underage male remain in custody, while Nicholas Mundy is on bail.
