UNLIKE some of the competitors at next weekend’s Stars of Orange ‘Dance For Cancer’, Maree Schaefer has plenty of dance experience, but that does not mean she is any less nervous.

Ms Schaefer says she loves having fun, even if the event includes her as the entertainment.
Given it is also a chance to raise money for the Cancer Council, she said competing at this year’s event was a no-brainer.
“It’s a great opportunity to help make a difference,” she said.
“I’ve had very close friends and family who have been through cancer so it’s fairly close to me.
“I’m very much looking forward to the night, I’ve been a group fitness instructor since 1994, but some of the moves they’ve been getting me to do have been a bit different.”
Ms Schaefer said audiences could expect a “country spin” during her routine, which would include a bit of honky-tonk.
She said she was quite nervous ahead of the routine.
“If someone said they weren’t nervous I think they’d be crazy,” she said.
“I’ve been up in front of crowds through my fitness dancing, but nothing like it’s going to be there.
“A big thank you needs to go out to the organisers, particularly the Cancer Council and instructor Sandro Tranfaglia, he’s amazing at what he does.”
The event will be held at Orange Ex-services Club on Friday, May 13.
While tickets are sold out, the Cancer Council is taking details for a waiting list.
