It now seems that her own legacy may extend much further than Orange.
Cafes Scrumptious on Summer, Soho on Summer and Byng Street Cafe and Local Store all donated their takings on Anzac Day and, after taking the idea to Legacy in Sydney, cafes all around Australia may do the same on April 25 each year.
In total, the three Orange cafes raised $7100 in what was a heart-warming effort by not only staff members but members of the community.
Mrs Glasby said she hoped to do the same each year and, hopefully, get more Orange eateries involved.
“It was a fantastic day and the community really got behind the event and supported all the cafes that participated,” she said.
“My husband served in the navy so we’re very mindful and respectful of the day which is why we didn’t trade.
“Legacy want to take the initiative across Australia so next year it will be really well publicised with a logo and lots of concepts so other cafes can get involved - I’m thrilled and pleased they’re coming on board with it.”
Legacy Orange president Bob Garvin received the $7100 donation on Thursday and was grateful for the support.
“It’s an unbelievable initiative,” he said.
“We are very grateful - it might end up being quite big now that Legacy Australia is on board.”
The money raised by Orange cafes will be distributed around the Central West to assist widows and dependants of soldiers killed in the line of duty.
