A Department of Education spokesman on Thursday said students at the school had been provided with support and counselling since they became aware of the tragic death.
The parent of one student who attends Orange High School said the boy was popular during his time at the school and his death had had a devastating impact on some of the students, who were allowed to go home from school to deal with their grief.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade was contacted by the Central Western Daily to confirm details of the crash in Bali; however it is understood the crash occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Friends and family of the 16-year-old have been posting tributes on social media and a GoFundMe account has been created to provide funds for Lochie's parents George and Cindy and his siblings Maddi and Ollie. Click here to donate.
Lochie's friend Billy Greatbatch created the GoFundMe account and recorded this message of support and thanks:
