Thieves out on the town

ORANGE residents are being reminded to lock up their houses and be vigilant in keeping an eye on their neighbours’ homes after a significant number of break and enters were reported to police this month.

Canobolas Local Area Command  duty officer Inspector Dave Harvey told the Central Western Daily he wouldn’t comment on the frequency of break-ins in Orange.

“We would like to ask people who have any information about the break and enters to report that information,” he said.

“We need the assistance of the public.”

Inspector Harvey said residents should ensure their homes are locked, inform their neighbours of any plans to go away, be mindful of activities at their neighbours’ houses and report any suspicious activities to police.

In recent weeks police received reports of break and enters in Byng Street, Lombardy Way, Churchill Avenue, Dalton Street, Adina Crescent, Peisley Street, Sampson Street, Rosedale Place and Illamatta Way.

Police are also investigating a theft from a dwelling in Byng Street and an attempted break and enter in Prince Street.
