THE click of a mouse will help to decide which charity will benefit from Orange’s own new year’s eve party.
Over $6800 was raised at last year’s McCormack Barber Party Under the Stars and this year you can have a say on which charity you want to benefit from the community event.
The man behind the party Peter McCormack said he wants the community to decide where this year’s funding should go.
“It’s really a party for the community and their support makes it work ... why not give them a say in where it goes,” he said.
“There are so many wonderful charity organisations working tirelessly in our community and it’s always difficult to choose just one to support.”
There are five causes vying for your vote - Orange Health Service, Cancer Council NSW, Heart Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Alliance and Riding for the Disabled Association NSW.
Where possible Mr McCormack said funds would go to the local branch of each organisation.
“No matter who people vote for these are all great charities and we want to ensure the money raised from the event is spent locally and makes a difference in our community each year,” he said.
As of midday yesterday the Orange Health Service was ahead on the voting tally with 50 per cent of votes.
Thanks to the gold coin entry donations from the 2011 New Year’s Eve event a mobile infant warmer was able to be donated to the Orange Health Service.
“We were really inspired by the people who live near the area and donated money after the event.” Mr McCormack said.
